Complete scam . Stay away at all cost . Booked a Luton van and paid over 300£ . Initially there was a driver booked but the night before the job the driver was changed . Tried calling the new driver in the morning of the job but nobody answered. Nobody showed up on the day of the moving . Try contacting the company for days through email and the chat provided but nobody answered. I can't believe this company is allowed to function in the UK .
In my opinion this is an elaborate scam , they make you pay full price and don't offer the service you pay for . There is no customer support or any contact whatsoever from them and the terms and services say they give no refunds .
I will dispute this transaction and hope the bank will give my money back .

Movers did not show up on our moving day without any notice whatsoever. Also, the platform was unreachable, left completely in the dark. As a result, we missed the appointment with the storage firm, missed our flight out of the country and left with a lot of stress. This “company” is a scam, avoid at all costs. Also they take ages to pay you back and dont cover the extra costs you had to make due to their lack of service. See you in court mate!

I would never ever use this service again. I am leaving a one star review as a clear warning to other consumers.

There will be people who have had perfectly fine experiences using this company (this includes me, the last time I moved). However, my experience today was horrific and demonstrates precisely why I would never book a move through them again. You can draw your own conclusions.

I booked online around 10 days in advance of my move. Found a driver who was available and well reviewed, booked and paid in full.

The day before my move I received an email explaining the driver had changed but there was nothing to worry about. In fact it said "Thanks to the Compare the Man and Van Driver Promise, we have allocated another one of our trusted service providers for you".

Sadly they don't keep their promises. On the morning of my move no one turned up. I looked at the "manage my booking" link and now a different 3rd drivers name was listed and it merely said he had been offered the job.

There is no way to telephone compare man and van. They do not have a live chat function. In a moment where all of my worldly possessions were packed up I had no way of actually getting hold of a human being to help resolve the issue.

I used their support function which is simply a contact form. I also sent an email to the escalations address listed on their Facebook account.

Rather than anyone contacting me, the next email I got was a generic refund email from them. I was aghast at the customer service and immediately went into problem solving mode. I needed to move today and they had entirely let me down.

Eventually I got sorted but not without a bunch more time and cost.

I later received a fairly generic email stating that the driver had declined and offering me 25% off if I booked a new move within 48 hrs. A completely futile gesture for anyone who needs to move on the day that they planned to move.

This company is not stupid. They know what the impact of this is.

I reached out to them to complain and to request a settlement for the failure. The response I got demonstrated no empathy and put all responsibility on the driver who cancelled (I did point out that the company is perfectly capable of holding drivers that use its platform to account).

My advice is to be very wary before using this company. I certainly won't ever use them again.

I had a deeply disappointing experience with Compare the Man and Van during a recent move. Despite booking a specific time slot, the driver arrived early, causing significant disruption. The driver had multiple bookings, despite us paying for a 3-4hr slot. Throughout the move, the driver placed my belongings outside in the rain without care, leading to water damage on multiple items. Additionally, they made inappropriate and homophobic comments to my family member, which was entirely unprofessional and disrespectful.

Following this experience, I reached out to customer service to request a full refund due to the poor service. However, instead of acknowledging my concerns, I received repeated copy-and-paste responses that did not address my complaints or refund request. I had to explain in detail why this was unacceptable, but there was a lack of understanding of my concerns. It’s been frustrating to feel that my concerns are not being taken seriously, and despite multiple follow-ups, I’ve received no meaningful reply.

The lack of accountability and customer service at Compare the Man and Van has turned what should have been a smooth move into a stressful ordeal. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, professional moving services.

I have used "Compare the Man and Van" twice now, and both experiences have been nothing short of disastrous. The first time, the driver was two hours late due to some excuse about tyre issues. I was frustrated but had another booking already in place two weeks later and they have a very restrictive cancellation policy. I thought my experience might have been a one-off. Big mistake.

Today was the last straw. The driver was a full two hours late before finally canceling the move altogether. This is completely unacceptable and has caused me immense inconvenience. But the worst part of dealing with this company is their atrocious customer service. There is no way to contact them directly—you are forced to fill out an online form on their website and just wait, hoping someone might get back to you.

This company is a nightmare to deal with and shows a complete lack of professionalism. Avoid "Compare the Man and Van" at all costs. There are plenty of other options out there—use anyone else but them.

Booked them days ahead our house move and 45' prior the time of the move they texted us about "a broken tire on the van". They would try to find another crew for later. They never did. We had to find another mover the very last minute literally. Pathetic service, unprofessionals, no telephone to call. Our experience was terrible and our advice is to NOT use these guys.

DO NOT USE - THEY ARE NOT PAYING DRIVERS AND PROVIDE A WOEFUL CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

My experience with this absolute joke of a company was horrific. We booked a long-distance house removal a week before our move; 36 hours before the move, our selected driver told us he would not complete the move unless we paid him directly, as the company have not been paying him.

We thought this was the driver trying to scam us, so we complained to CMAV and they allocated us a second driver the next day. Same story here. He was owed £12k by CMAV and again he wanted to be paid directly by us; we agreed to this and tried to get a refund from CMAV for the inconvenience. However, they would not refund us, as they claimed that they could offer us another alternative driver (which we did not want). Again, this driver had not been paid by CMAV for two months, and we told him to not come as to ensure he does not lose more money.

We eventually managed to get our money back on the actual day of the house move - but the level of stress that CMAV caused is incomprehensible, and the difficulty of getting a refund from this scam company was ridiculous. I would absolutely warn anyone even considering of booking anything through CMAV to find someone local and book directly with them.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!
I paid for a 5-hour service. We were finished in 3 and a half. Because the payment is through this joke of a company the drivers have no business in responding. There's no way someone can contact you, your support messages go nowhere, and you don't even have a phone number! You protect the scamming drivers companies and yourself more than the customers.
